Focus on Injury Recovery, Marc Marquez Will Miss The Austin MotoGP

JABAR EKSPRES —The Repsol Honda team has confirmed its leading rider, Marc Marquez, will miss this weekend’s Red Bull American Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, as he continues his recovery from injury.

According to an official statement from Honda on Tuesday (11/4), following a recent CAT scan, Marquez and his medical team, led by Dr. Ignacio Roger de Oña, at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid, confirmed the first metacarpal is still healing.

After working closely with the race team, all involved have opted to let the injury heal completely first and avoid unnecessary risks by sitting out the third round of MotoGP.

“After doing a CAT scan, it was confirmed that my bone is still recovering. After talking with the medical team, we decided not to participate in the race in Austin to avoid risks,” Marquez said, quoted from his social media account.

Furthermore, Marquez will continue to undergo his rehabilitation program at home in order to return to fitness as soon as possible.

The brother of Alex Marquez also told fans not to worry because he is struggling to recover and wants to return to the track as soon as possible.

“I will continue to work hard on the rehabilitation process that I have been going through for some time, so that I can get back on my bike again. Thank you for your support, and see you again!” said Marquez.
