JABAR EKSPRES – Indonesian students conveyed constructive ideas to build Indonesia at the 21st Indonesian Scholar International Convention (ISIC) with the theme “Rethinking Indonesia’s Strategy to Recover and Grow” organized by the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) UK.
Chairman of PPI UK Muhammad Affin Bahtiar said that ISIC was intended as a forum to share ideas for Indonesian students in developing Indonesia, according to a written statement from PPI UK, Tuesday (8/29).
“Ideas and constructive ideas about Indonesia will be delivered directly to policy makers,” Affin said.

The event, which was held on 25-26 August 2023 at the University of Nottingham, UK, presented ideas on the issues of sustainable energy transition, digitalization and innovation, as well as social reconstruction and health.
It was mentioned that the ideas from the 21st ISIC took into account the priority sectors of Indonesia’s leadership in the G20 in 2022 and the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023.
Regarding the issue of sustainable transition, the ideas and ideas presented to policy makers are related to energy transition, ecotourism, green transportation, and environmental improvement.
As for digitalization and innovation, the ideas presented were related to the digital economy, business and entrepreneurship, as well as research, technology and innovation.
While health and social reconstruction are matters relating to global health architecture, equal and inclusive education, and social welfare and protection.
On the same occasion, Indonesian Ambassador to the UK Desra Percaya said that the 21st ISIC is a momentum for collaboration with various sectors that can be key for Indonesia in determining its position in global economic development.
The annual event for Indonesian students in the UK was attended by more than 150 Indonesian students offline and 200 Indonesian students online from around the world.
The event was opened by Desra Percaya, followed by virtual speeches from Indonesian Vice President K.H. Ma’ruf Amin and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahudin Uno, and also featured ministers, governors, bureaucrats, academics, and private sector activists.
