Jabar Ekspres – Anti Japan sentiment is rising in China following the discharge of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) into the sea.
Japan has been subjected to acts of harassment as seen through harassing phone calls and calls on the internet to boycott Japanese products.
A rock was thrown into the yard of a Japanese school in Qingdao last Thursday. Later, another Japanese school in Suzhou was also pelted with eggs on Friday, according to Japanese Government sources. No one was injured in the incidents.

Some Chinese social media users urged followers to call for protests against Japan and boycott Japanese products. The calls prompted increased security around Japanese offices in China.
Although the Japanese Government said the massive disposal of wastewater over a period of about 30 years would be done in a safe manner, the Chinese government reacted strongly by banning all imports of seafood products from Japan.
Japan has received a number of disturbing phone calls since the release of Fukushima water began. Tokyo has demanded that Beijing take steps to address the situation.
Japan’s Foreign Ministry told the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo on Saturday that the disturbing phone calls were “very regrettable” and “worrying.”
It said in a press release, “We request that the Chinese Government take appropriate measures, such as by asking the public to react calmly.”
A cultural center in Tokyo’s Edogawa area was flooded with phone calls from a number with China’s country code 86, which contained messages in Japanese saying “don’t throw” water into the sea.
Such phone calls, also made in Chinese and English, have been reported since the water releases began, the local government office said.
According to Japanese Government sources, similar calls have also been made to medical institutions and restaurants.
