JABAR EKSPRES – The traditional clothes worn by Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia Djauhari Oratmangun became one of the highlights of the 78th Independence Day ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing on Thursday (7/18).

Djauhari wore the traditional clothes of the Tanimbar Islands in Maluku, in the form of a bright red woven suit with white and black patterns combined with a headband with the same pattern complete with a large bird of paradise decoration, and a necklace.

“I come from Tanimbar Islands Regency. This is what we actually use every day there. Thank you to Mr. President Joko Widodo who yesterday used Tanimbar traditional clothes, which I think is very much appreciated by the Tanimbar people, including me, the son of Tanimbar,” Djauhari said after the ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing.

According to Djauhari, Tanimbar woven fabric has also been promoted several times in China along with several other traditional fabrics of the archipelago.

“But actually the excitement will only be later in the afternoon because there will be a stage entitled “Gempita Merdeka”. This morning we had a ceremony to commemorate Indonesia’s 78th anniversary here with wisdom, attended by students, Indonesian lovers, Guiqiao who then returned (to China),” he said.

A YouTuber named Jerome Polin admitted that he enjoyed the flag ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing.

“It was really exciting, touched that there are still many who care about Indonesia even though they are in China and there were many who wore kebaya and batik so continue to preserve Indonesian culture,” said Jerome, who also attended the ceremony.
