JABAR EKSPRES – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) agreed to establish cooperation between Indonesia and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) at a bilateral meeting with President Xi Jinping, at Jinniu Hotel, Chengdu, Thursday (7/27/2023).
Some of the cooperation discussed by the two heads of state include strengthening trade, investment, cooperation in the health sector, cooperation in the construction of the Archipelago Capital (IKN), and cooperation in research and technology.
“In the future, we need to continue to encourage the renewal of protocols and increase import quotas for swallow’s nests and the completion of protocols for imports of Indonesian marine products,” said Jokowi as quoted from the Cabinet Secretariat website, Friday (7/28/2023).

For the IKN development project, Jokowi hopes that China can continue to be a strategic partner. “Hopefully the cooperation between the IKN Authority and the Shenzen City Government can contribute to the planning and development of IKN,” he said.
Regarding cooperation in the health sector, President Jokowi welcomed the finalization of the action plan for the implementation of health cooperation between Indonesia and China.
During the meeting, President Jokowi and President Xi Jinping also discussed several regional issues including ASEAN-ROK cooperation and China’s support for ASEAN centrality to realize a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
“The Indo-Pacific is a strategic region that we must maintain as a peaceful and stable region,” he said.
