French Luxury Fashion Brand Supports Paris 2024 Olympics

Jabar Ekspres – Organizers of the 2024 Paris Olympics have received support from luxury fashion company LVMH, which announced it will become a “premium partner” of the Summer Games.

Support from the combined luxury brand, whose subsidiaries include Louis Vuitton and Dior, is close to the sponsorship target of 1.24 billion euros or approximately Rp20.63 trillion.

“We still need a few tens of millions of euros to reach the budget we set, but it is definitely a very good thing, even though we are confident,” said an organizing committee, as broadcast AFP, Thursday.

LVMH director and chief executive Bernard Arnault said the unprecedented partnership with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games would contribute to boosting France’s appeal around the world.

“It is natural for LVMH and its Maison to be part of this great international event. The values of passion, excellence and inclusion that high-level sport stands for are developed every day by our teams, motivated by an unwavering desire to go beyond limits,” Arnault said, quoted from the official LVMH website.

“Sport is a great source of inspiration for our Maisons, who will bring together creative excellence and athletic performance by contributing their bold innovations and savoir-faire to this extraordinary celebration.”

Meanwhile, organizers are hoping that the riots that erupted in the suburbs of Paris and around France earlier this month will not be repeated next summer, sparked by the incident of a policeman shooting dead a 17-year-old boy.

However, Paris 2024 organizing committee chairman Tony Estanguet said he had “no major concerns” with 12 months of preparations remaining.

“I am very satisfied with the progress of the project. Yes, there are problems every day that need to be solved, but that’s why the Games are being held in 2024 and not 2023,” Estanguet said.
