JABAR EKSPRES – Wimbledon tournament organizers announced the 2023 edition of the grass-court Grand Slam will be led by Carlos Alcaraz who is the first seed and Novak Djokovic who is the second seed.
From 2002-2019, Wimbledon used a seeding system that took into account players’ success on grass courts. However, starting with the 2021 edition (no tournament in 2020), the organizers returned to using the ATP Rankings.
Quoted from the official ATP website, Thursday (6/29), Alcaraz will be the top seed at the major tournament for the second consecutive time, after taking the lead at Roland Garros, where he lost in the semifinals to Djokovic.

Serbian Djokovic in the coming two weeks will try to equal Roger Federer’s record by claiming his eighth Wimbledon title.
Rounding out the top eight seeds are third seed Daniil Medvedev, fourth seed Casper Ruud, fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, sixth seed Holger Rune, seventh seed Andrey Rublev and eighth seed Jannik Sinner.
Australian Nick Kyrgios, who reached the Wimbledon final last year, ranks 33rd in the world in this week’s ATP rankings.
However, due to the withdrawal of Karen Khachanov and Pablo Carreno Busta who were originally seeded, Kyrgios became the 31st seed.
The last tennis player to be seeded is 32nd seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. If any of the seeded players withdraw before the draw scheduled for Friday (6/30), Ben Shelton will occupy the seed.
