Jabar Ekspres – Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo said Indonesia has the opportunity to cooperate with Germany to develop sports science, Monday.
During his visit from Germany, the minister met with full members of the Home Affairs Commission and Sports Committee Stephan Mayer, as well as Deputy Chairman of the German Parliament’s Sports Commission Philipp Hartewig.
“They come from the ruling party. The meeting was more about opportunities for cooperation between Indonesia and Germany related to sports science,” Dito told Antara at the Bidakara Tower, Jakarta, Monday night.

In addition, Dito continued, the meeting also discussed the possibility of holding friendly championships between Germany and Indonesia for a number of sports such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, and others.
The meeting was informal. “But we will follow up and try to communicate further. Yesterday it was still informal and we will try to make it formal,” Dito said.
According to Dito, opportunities for cooperation between Indonesia and Germany in the field of sports science are wide open. He said Germany has advantages in the field of sports science.
“The advantage is diplomacy between countries and a stronger Indonesian sports ecosystem in the field of sports science and Germany has that advantage. Hopefully this can be the beginning of cooperation in sports between Indonesia and Germany,” Dito concluded.
During his visit to Germany, Dito also revealed that Indonesia became the center of attention and even received an offer to host the 2027 Special Olympic World Games (SOWG).

Dito received an invitation from Special Olympics International (SOI) Chief Operating Officer Lou Lauria. The 32-year-old man said Indonesia has the opportunity to host the SOWG because it is considered a developing and iconic country.
