Tanzania Opens Embassy in Jakarta

JABAR EKSPRES – Tanzania will officially open its embassy in Indonesia on Thursday, further emphasizing the importance of cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

Tanzanian Foreign Minister Stergomena Lawrence Tax emphasized that Indonesia has always been an ally and was one of the earliest countries to open its embassy in Tanzania after independence.

During the meeting, the two foreign ministers discussed efforts to increase trade and investment through public and private partnerships, and agreed on cooperation in manufacturing, mining and energy, agriculture, fisheries, and tourism and hospitality industries.

Tax explained that his visit to Indonesia will be followed up with an official visit from Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa in September.

PM Majaliwa is accompanied by a Tanzanian business delegation that will realize business cooperation between the two countries.

“I am sure the visit will open new cooperation in trade and investment for the mutual benefit of the two countries,” Tax said.

He also welcomed the planned visit of Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Tanzania, although the time has not been mentioned.

Tanzania is the second largest trading partner for Indonesia in East Africa.

Indonesia-Tanzania trade recorded a positive trend, increasing 50 percent from 2019 to 2022, with a value of more than 340 million US dollars (around Rp5 trillion).
