JABAR EKSPRES – Deputy Regent of Garut Helmi Budiman said he is interested in making the beauty of the Cimanuk River that flows through the city and a number of areas in Garut Regency, West Java, better organized so that it has the beauty of the concept of regional arrangement in European countries.
“Make the river like a courtyard, because the river is actually very beautiful, which is beautiful with the road, beautiful river,” said Helmi Budiman in Garut, Sunday.
He said the Cimanuk River has its own charm as one of the largest rivers that passes through a number of areas including urban areas in Garut Regency.
However, the potential beauty of the river, he said, has not been developed because there are still many people who build their houses facing the road rather than the river, even though the river view is more beautiful in other countries.
“Only in us because the river is still dirty, so it is beautiful facing the road, but in the future like many countries in Europe also to the river,” he said.
He revealed that the condition of the Cimanuk River is still being improved, especially the quality of the water, which is currently still dirty, so it needs efforts involving many parties to make the Cimanuk River clean.
The local government’s efforts, he said, will propose cooperation with foundations from companies operating in Garut to pay attention to environmental issues, especially the condition of the Cimanuk River water.
He hopes that the concern of various parties for the condition of the river in Garut can be the same as that of the Citarum River in Bandung with its program called “Citarum Harum”.
“In order to treat Cimanuk River like Citarum, we hope that if there is ‘Citarum Harum’, Cimanuk Hirup’,” he said.
