JABAR EKSPRES – British stocks ended higher on Wednesday trading local time (6/14/2023 ), posting gains for the third consecutive day, with the benchmark FTSE 100 index on the London Stock Exchange lifted 0.10 percent or 7.96 points to 7,602.74 points.
The FTSE 100 index added 0.32 percent or 24.09 points to 7,594.78 points on Tuesday (6/13/2023), after gaining 0.11 percent or 8.33 points to 7,570.69 points on Monday (6/12/2023), and slipping 0.49 percent or 37.38 points to 7,562.36 points on Friday (6/9/2023).
Shares of Smith & Nephew PLC also known as Smith+Nephew, a British multinational medical equipment manufacturer, soared 5.05 percent, becoming the top gainer of the blue chips.
Followed by shares of British multinational mining company Anglo American PLC, which jumped 4.01 percent; and mining company that owns and operates copper mines in Chile and conducts exploration activities in Chile and Peru Antofagasta PLC increased 3.48 percent.
Meanwhile, shares of Evraz PLC, a British multinational steel manufacturing and mining company partly owned by Russian oligarchs, posted the biggest loss (top loser) among the leading stocks, with its share price tumbling 12.59 percent.
This was followed by shares of international sports betting and gaming company Entain PLC, formerly GVC Holdings, which dived 8.70 percent; and British multinational telecommunications holding company operating in around 180 countries BT Group PLC lost 2.74 percent in share value.
