This reflects on his experience when helping Southampton get promoted twice in a row (Championship 2011/2012, Premier League 2012/2013) and also when helping Liverpool win the Champions League (2018/2019), Premier League (2019/2020), European Super Cup (2019), and Club World Cup (2020).
“If you have a team with 8-9 good senior players like we have, it is very important to be successful,” said Lallana.
“I saw the Southampton team when they won consecutive promotions and the Liverpool team I played in, there was always a core of leaders,” he added.
Of the 332 appearances with Liverpool, 68 times Milner appeared in European competition. With this, Lallana believes the experience of his former teammate playing 2-3 times a week will also be very valuable for his team which next season participates in four competitions namely the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.
“We need to keep building, we will play 2-3 times a week and it’s difficult, not just from the physical side of playing on Thursday and Sunday but also from the mental side,” said Lallana.
