JABAR EKSPRES – Vice Rector III for Student Affairs of Makassar State University (UNM) Prof. Andi Muhammad Idkhan clarified that the five people secured by the police in connection with the drug case were not students of the state university.
“After we monitored them (five people secured by the police related to drugs) were not UNM students. He is an alumnus, so in the media coverage that says they are students, it is not true,” Prof. Idkhan told reporters at UNM Parangtambung Campus in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Saturday.
This was conveyed by Prof. Idkhan, after the South Sulawesi Police Ditresnarkoba team arrested five suspects who had a drug distribution network, then associated with the discovery of a suspected drug storage area on the UNM Campus which has now been fitted with a police line.
Idkhan also said that the UNM rectorate is also still waiting for information from the police on the development of the drug case, following the discovery of a small safe planted (bunker) in one of the student secretariat rooms (not in use) at the Faculty of Language and Literature UNM Parangtambung.
“But we are also waiting for information from the police, approximately if he (the police) conducts development and does not rule out the possibility of whether there are students involved. If there are students, then the campus will give severe witnesses and dismiss them,” he said.
He emphasized that if indeed the student data received was complete from the police involved in drugs, his party would immediately hold a meeting with the rectorate leadership to immediately make a decision, regarding the sanctions given to the student.
“Regarding this matter, it has entered the realm of defaming the campus, of course the leadership will take firm action. In terms of security, we may increase it again, so that in the future something like this does not happen again,” he said.
