JABAR EKSPRES – Manchester City player Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante or Rodri said his team made new history after lifting the Champions League trophy for the first time in the 129 years of the club’s establishment.
City got the Champions League trophy after winning 1-0 against Inter Milan in the 2022/2023 Champions League final at Ataturk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul Turkey, Saturday local time (Sunday morning WIB).
Rodri scored the only Manchester Blue goal after he successfully utilized a vomiting ball in the Inter penalty area in the 68th minute.
“We made history,” Rodri said as reported by the club’s official website, Sunday.
Not only led his team to lift the Big Ear trophy for the first time, Rodri also led his team to win treble winners or three trophies in a season after previously winning the Premier League and English FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola’s squad sealed the Premier League title after finishing with 89 points at the top, five points difference from Arsenal in second place. For the FA Cup, Erling Haaland and friends won the trophy after beating Manchester United with a narrow score of 2-1 at Wembley Stadium.
“We made history, not only for the Champions League but with the Treble,” Rodri said.
“We made history in England and Europe and that is the step we need to elevate City to the top team,” said Rodri.
The 26-year-old midfielder said the treble winners achieved by his team were not easily obtained. Moreover, in the Premier League itself, for months City were in second place and only stabbed the Gooners in first place in the last weeks.
“We also deserve it because it was not an easy year. There were ups and downs, highs and lows and a lot of doubts,” Rodri said.
“I want to thank everyone who came to support away. They believed in us all this time even though we didn’t succeed,” said Rodri.
