Ginting Defends Singapore Open Title

JABAR EKSPRES – The Indonesian badminton team took home a title from the 2023 Singapore Open tournament after men’s singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting defended his title thanks to his victory over Anders Antonsen in the final match in Singapore on Sunday.

Ginting beat the Danish badminton player with two straight games 21-16, 21-13 in a match that lasted 40 minutes.

With this success, Ginting successfully defended the title of the BWF Super 750 tournament. Singapore Open 2022 became Ginting’s first moment to record his title, when he defeated Japanese badminton player Kodai Naraoka in the top party.

In the final match this time, Ginting was left behind by Antonsen from 0-2 to a score of 2-4. Through patience and good adaptation, Ginting can focus more on the front game pattern to catch up.

He successfully pocketed a total of five consecutive points to seize the lead with 7-4 over the Danish badminton player. Ginting continued to strengthen his advantage with consecutive points to stay away with 10-6.

But after the interval, the 22nd ranked badminton player was able to reduce the distance and there was a chase of points. Antonsen took the lead at 14-15, but the situation only lasted temporarily.

Again Ginting replied by gaining four points in a row to take the lead 18-15. Not stopping there, Ginting again gained consecutive numbers to close the first game with a score of 21-16 after playing 18 minutes.

At the turn of the game, Ginting fell behind again at the start of the game. The world’s second-ranked badminton player had made mistakes twice, in the form of low returns that hit the net.

But consistency pushed Ginting to turn things around and make a big difference in the numbers of the two players. Since falling behind 1-3, Ginting actually increased the advantage to 7-3, 12-6, until 14-7.
