Bagnaia Dominates Italian GP on “Perfect Weekend”

Attempting to get up, Marquez crashed after going wide in a corner on lap seven while chasing Luca Marini for the podium zone, extending the Spaniard’s DNF result since last year’s Valencia GP.

His younger brother, Alex Marquez also had to kiss the gravel while fighting for the podium with Marini. The Gresini team rider crashed on lap 15 when he came under pressure from the VR46 bike number 10 who was sticking closely behind him.

When Bagnaia and Martin were more than two seconds adrift in front, Johann Zarco made a maneuver to overtake Marini five laps before the finish.

Marini struggled to find the speed to catch the French rider, who eventually took the podium with his Pramac teammates while confirming the dominance of the Desmosedici Ducati bike at home.

Yamaha had no answer to the speed of the Ducati bikes and their rivals following their poor performance in qualifying.

2021 world champion Fabio Quartararo had to settle for points by finishing P11 behind his teammate Franco Morbidelli who was in the top ten.

Aleix Espargaro, who raced through pain following a cycling accident, was the leading Aprilia rider with a P6 finish while his teammate Maverick Vinales was only able to finish P12.

The KTM duo of Brad Binder and Jack Miller troubled their opponents on the front row at the start of the race but both could only finish P5 and P7.
