JABAR EKSPRES – President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (TWC), Febrina Intan, said that the Vesak celebration in 2023 at Borobudur Temple, Magelang, Central Java, will have a positive economic impact, from increasing lodging occupancy to mobilizing MSMEs.
“Vesak is an event that people around Borobudur look forward to. During Vesak, the economic impact is very positive. For example, homestays, there is homestay empowerment for the community around here, it is full. MSMEs also get the impact,” she said in Magelang, Central Java, Sunday (6/4).
As the manager of the Borobudur Temple area, Febrina said that inclusiveness is the main thing that must be considered. Therefore, every time there is an event in the area it manages, the surrounding businesses will also benefit.
However, she admitted that she has not been able to reveal the amount of economic impact figures for the Vesak celebration.

He only hopes that the solemn and sacred Vesak celebration can continue to be held. Likewise, other events that can attract the attention of visitors.
“For us at Borobudur, an event like this should not be a one-off. Every month there must be something. People still come here not only to explore Borobudur as a cultural heritage but also other experiences that can be felt,” Febrina said.
Febrina revealed that there are already a number of programs and events that will be held in the Borobudur Temple area after the successful Vesak celebration this year.
These programs include marathon races, village exploration and programs related to spiritual tourism.
“People come to Borobudur not only to spend 3 hours, if possible 2 nights,” she said.
As a subsidiary of the Injourney Tourism and Support Holding Company, TWC also hopes to get a market from Bangkok, Thailand, whose population is predominantly Buddhist.
