JABAR EKSPRES –Crisis Management and First Aid for Hajj Pilgrims (PKP3JH) reminds and urges prospective pilgrims to prepare their physical, health and mental mind when performing the pilgrimage in the Holy Land.
“Hajj requires readiness not only physically, but also mental health. Given the importance of memory and clarity of mind for pilgrims,” said PKP3JH Executive, dr. Leksmana Arry Chandra, in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday (5/25).
PKP3JH provides mitigation advice or prevention efforts in the form of steps that can be taken to avoid memory loss during the hajj journey.
He said that first, prospective pilgrims must prepare themselves mentally by being solemn and focusing on spiritual practices such as reading the Quran and doing relaxation so that it can help keep the mind calm.

“A strong and relaxed mentality is the key to maintaining a good memory,” said Dr. Leksmana.
Second, he said, stay physically active by exercising regularly which can increase blood flow to the brain and help improve memory, and third, adopt a healthy lifestyle by maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet.
“Avoid fatty foods, fast foods, and foods high in sugar. Make sure to drink enough water to avoid dehydration,” said Dr. Leks.
Fourth, he continued, train the brain by doing activities that can stimulate the mind such as reading books, writing and reading the Koran to improve understanding and spiritual memory, and fifth, manage stress well because it can affect memory and concentration abilities.
The sixth, he said, is to use visual aids while in the Holy Land by taking notes or using maps, photos and making itineraries containing important information, such as the location and order of places to be visited.
“Seventh, get enough sleep every night to improve memory and memory consolidation, besides that it can help the mind and body to recover fully, and eighth, can use applications or electronic devices specifically designed to help pilgrims remember information and schedules,” he said.
