JABAR EKSPRES –The Government of Sorong City, Southwest Papua Province through the Education Office is committed to reorganizing the position of teachers according to educational backgrounds, in order to meet the quota of subject teacher shortages.

Head of Sorong City Education Office, Yuli Atmini, in Sorong, Sunday (30/4), explained that the number of teachers at all levels of education in Sorong City, both honorary, PPPK and civil servants, amounted to 4000, but the placement of teachers in their positions has not been maximized according to the field of education they are engaged in.

“There are some subjects that have no teachers but there are subjects that are overloaded with teachers,” explained Yuli.

In the future, said Yuli, the Education Office will analyze teacher needs and then be accompanied by structuring the position of teachers according to their field of education, so that all subjects are fulfilled properly and optimally.

It was mentioned that there are many math teachers and Christian Religion teachers spread throughout the school. Meanwhile, teachers of Catholic Religion subjects are in short supply.

“We will do a good calculation so that the placement of teachers is appropriate and can answer the needs of subject teachers,” said Yuli.

According to Yuli, the rearrangement of subject teachers is very important to maximize the fulfillment of teacher needs so that all subjects can be accommodated properly and the education process runs optimally.

“So our orientation is to maximize teacher personnel to support the optimization of the learning and teaching process in all schools,” she said.

Through this system, he believes that the shortage of teachers that has been experienced at all levels of education in Sorong City will be well minimized.
