JABAR EKSPRES – A joint search and rescue team searched for a fisherman who disappeared after his boat capsized due to waves at Sayang Heulang sea, Pameungpeuk, Garut Regency, Saturday (29/4).
The joint SAR team is still searching for a victim named Wahid (54), who is a resident of Pameungpeuk District, on Sayang Heulang Beach.
“So we are still conducting a search,” said Head of the Water and Air Police Unit (Polairud) Garut Police AKBP Anang Sonjaya, Saturday (29/4).
Based on the testimony of witnesses, the incident first occurred when the fisherman was about to return home from the sea to the pier. However, suddenly the waves hit the boat upside down.
Until now, the whereabouts of the fisherman carrying the boat are still unknown, and joint officers and other fishermen are still searching for and carrying out the process of evacuating the boat.
“This morning there was a sea accident, the fishing boat was overturned and damaged, but the people weren’t there,” he said.
He also said that the joint SAR team carried out a search around the location where the boat capsized, then searched the middle of the ocean by boat.
“We have also divided the team to conduct a search by combing the beach. Currently the victim is still being searched for,” explained Anang.
Anang added that this was the fourth time this had happened, with the previous three having been found dead.
“So far there have been four drowned, three found dead, one has not been found,” he explained.
