JABAR EKSPRES – Wé Ani advances to Top 20, she was the final contestant to make it through the ranking. She belted out Adele’s Skyfall on Sunday’s episode of American Idol and bidding to make the Top 12.
As Dawson Wayne, Elijah McCormick, and Malik Heard were eliminated, she blasts off to the Top 20 singing with high-pitched voice from being in the second group of Top 26.
Wé Ani said in a video package that her biggest highlight of her journey in the American Idol competition was when she performs in Hawaii and there was a girl in the audience was signing to her mother.
‘She was interpreting everything that the judges were saying, all of the songs. It was amazing. So I felt like I had to come up and say hi,” she said.
Wé Ani also said that she was touched because her younger brother lost his hearing for some years and then she started to learn sign language to communicate.
From her perspective, music was not just a ‘sonic experience’ and the ASL (American Sign Language) community has helped her a lot to bring music into a different approach.
‘I need to make sure my facial expressions are big. My body language needs to be very exaggerated. So it’s never just about the singing. It’s never just about the actual instruments that you’re playing. It’s really about the entire experience of you performing. And I want to constantly give that. I want to become the next American Idol, please,” she adds.
Pop superstar, Katy Perry, said that her dramatical for Skyfall performance made her ‘shook’.
