JABAR EKSPRES —The Banten National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) team is on standby at Merak Port for 24 hours to provide evacuation rescue during the Lebaran 1444 H/2023 homecoming flow in the event of a sea accident.
“We are on full alert during the Lebaran homecoming flow, because crossing activities are so crowded,” said Head of the Merak Port Post of Basarnas Banten, Feri Krisna, in Merak, Sunday (16/4).
Basarnas Banten’s Merak Port Post team deployed as many as 30 personnel to be on standby in case of sea accidents in Lebaran homecoming transportation.
They are Basarnas officers on standby for 24 hours alternately at the Merak Port Post.

In addition, Basarnas Banten also prepares evacuation equipment including a 60-meter ship and a 40-meter ship equipped with life jackets.
Other evacuation equipment, rubber boats, RIP, communication and operational vehicles.
All evacuation equipment, he said, was in good condition and could be operated for rescue.
“We move immediately when we receive a sea accident by evacuating,” he explained.
According to him, the Banten Basarnas team certainly has no doubt about their skills to evacuate in the waters.
Because, they are a humanitarian team every three months training skills and skills in evacuation.

They Basarnas Banten team already have competence in evacuation in the waters, so they can overcome in the event of a sea accident.
“We ask all humanitarian officers to be on standby to provide assistance and evacuation in the event of a marine accident,” he explained.
He said that Basarnas Banten also patrols around Banten Harbor, especially during the homecoming season when ship movements increase.
The patrols can directly rescue and evacuate passengers in the event of a sea accident.
