JABAR EKSPRES – The 68th Asian African Festival in 2023 is a long-awaited and historic event because it will be held offline again in Bandung on July 29, 2023. Previously, since 2019 this event was only held virtually.
The festival carries the theme “Universe of Creative Culture” and features a cultural parade from Asian-African countries, as well as various arts, especially from the city of Bandung.
Ema Sumarna, Acting Mayor of Bandung, thanked all the people who crowded the Jalan Asia Afrika area and expressed her hope that this event could strengthen the brotherhood between Asian-African nations through the creativity of the cultural arts displayed.
“We have been waiting for this event for a long time after 3 years it was not held. Hopefully, the cultural creativity will not only entertain us and make us know each other better, but also strengthen the brotherhood among Asian-African nations,” said Ema Sumarna, as quoted by Bandung City Government.

She also hoped that the festival could be one of the instruments for Bandung’s economic growth, as it showcases the city’s great potential in arts, culture and human resources.
Head of the Asian-African Conference Museum, Dahlia Kusuma Dewi, welcomed all participants and delegates from 17 countries who attended with the spirit of solidarity, world peace, and the strength of Asian-African countries, which are the values promoted since the 1955 Asian-African Conference. She also hoped that the event would promote inclusivity and world solidarity and encourage future cultural collaborations between Asian-African countries.
The Chairman of the Bandung City Council, Tedy Rusmawan, expressed his appreciation for the revival of the Asian-African Festival and considered the theme Asian African 2023 as a sign of the spirit of inclusiveness, innovation, and diversity, which has an important role in the development of world culture. Tedy also emphasized the importance of preserving cultural identity as part of the sustainability of life and civilization.
