JABAR EKSPRES – Northern Italy is experiencing storms and heavy rain, while the country’s central and southern regions are still suffering from hot weather, according to local media on Saturday.
In the cities of Treviso and Padova, hail the size of “tennis balls” hit the region, and heavy rain fell in Vicenza, Verona and Venice, causing injuries and damage to buildings.
Governor Luca Zaia said 110 people were injured in northern Veneto as hail caused car windows to shatter, in addition to other objects being damaged.
The Veneto branch of the Italian Farmers Association (Coldiretti) also said agricultural fields and vineyards in the northern region were affected by the hail.

Civil defense forces also issued warnings regarding the possibility of thunderstorms, hail and strong winds in the regions of Lombardia, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Autonomous Province of Bozano and Emilia Romagna.
In contrast, central and southern Italy are still baking under the extreme heat coming from Africa.

The Health Ministry issued a public warning that 19 cities were in “red” extreme heat, down from 23 on Thursday as record-breaking temperatures began to subside.
The warning added that 18 cities would still be in the “red” category over the weekend.
It noted that the high temperatures that have plagued the region over the past week, could continue into the weekend, with some areas reaching temperatures of 45-47 Celsius.
