JABAR EKSPRES – Tunisian tennis player, Ons Jabeur, overcame Aryna Sabalenka’s resistance in the Wimbledon semifinal match which took place at Centre Court, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, London, Thursday (7/13) local.
Jabeur overcame a set down, to then ensure victory with a score of 6-7 (5/7), 6-4, 6-3 over Sabalenka. In the final match, she will face Marketa Vondrousova who eliminated Elina Svitolina.
This is the second time in a row Jabeur has advanced to the Wimbledon final. The victory over Sabalenka was also the third time Jabeur came back to win after losing the first set.
Saturday’s final will be her third Grand Slam final, having lost to Elena Rybakina at Wimbledon and then to Iga Swiatek at last year’s US Open.

“I’m very proud of myself because if I had lost today’s match, I would have gone home. But I’m happy that I kept working hard and found strength,” Jabeur said after the match as quoted by AFP.
“I learned to transform bad energy into good things, so the anger I got from the first set, I tried to stay focused,” he added.
Jabeur did not forget to praise Sabalenka’s toughness, which on the other hand if the opponent advanced to the final and became champion would cause a little moral problem for the Wimbledon organizing committee.
Should Sabalenka emerge victorious in the final match played on Sunday (July 16), she will receive the trophy from Princess Catherine, wife of Prince William. That is likely to happen a year after Belarus and Russia were banned from the tournament due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Belarus is a key ally for Russia.
Sabalenka initially looked set for a smooth ride to the final, having performed well in the first set. She was able to recover from three break points in the first set.
