Singaporean Youth Delegation Joins Youth City Changers Rakernas Apeksi XVI

JABAR EKSPRES – A Singaporean youth delegation participated in the Youth City Changers which was one of the activities of the XVI National Work Meeting (Rakernas) of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (Apeksi) in Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

Head of the Makassar Youth and Sports Agency Andi Pattiware in Makassar, Thursday, said the involvement of the Singaporean youth delegation was due to the initiation of Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto.

“Thanks to the initiation of the mayor, dozens of Singaporean youth delegates and others from various regions can attend Apeksi XVI 2023,” he said on Friday, July 7, 2023.

He said the Youth City Changers delegation did not only come from Singaporean youth, but there were 98 other youth from various cities in Indonesia who would attend.

“Alhamdulillah, we have received confirmation that Singapore’s National Youth Council will send five youth delegates from there,” he said.

The presence of Singaporean youth delegates at Youth City Changers, said Andi Pattiware, provides a new perspective regarding the solution to youth problems that occur, especially in developed countries like Singapore.

“They will later participate in forums to discuss youth issues together with youth in Indonesia,” he said.

Dispora Youth Empowerment Division Head Muhammad Dasysyara Dahya explained that the Youth City Changers participants will be divided into four commissions.

Youth delegates from both Indonesia and Singapore will discuss four themes, including digitalization, future leadership, empowerment, and sustainability.

“Each of the commissions will present the status quo or situation in their respective regions, and will be responded to by youth from other cities. Has it ever happened and what is the solution,” he explained.

The results of the discussion forum, he continued, will be presented at the peak of the Apeksi XVI Rakernas event in front of 98 mayors throughout Indonesia.

“They will draft points and the results will be read out at the peak of the Apeksi Rakernas. So our youth friends will convey what has been a concern in their respective cities,” she said.
