JABAR EKSPRES – The Motorcross Grand Prix (MXGP) circuit located at the former Selaparang Airport will become a new icon for the city of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara.
NTB Governor Zulkieflimansyah said the presence of international events at the former Selaparang Airport made the area a new icon for the city of Mataram.
“The new icon of the city of Mataram, the Selaparang Circuit on the 65-hectare former airport land, will bring many benefits to the community,” he said in a written statement received by reporters in Mataram, Thursday (6/29).

The NTB governor said the potential of this international circuit and its beautiful and strategic location had been recognized by foreigners.
“If it can be implemented consecutively in two or three years, it will bring investment certainty so that this location will be of high value,” the NTB governor said.
According to him, as many as 500 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Mataram City are ready to fill the stalls available at the Selaparang international circuit complex.
“Not only that, the community around the circuit is directly involved in this world-class event,” he said.
The Regional Secretary of Mataram City, Lalu Alwan Basri, assessed that the benefits of the presence of international circuits and events have been felt in the region.
“Especially the younger generation who are accommodated and involved in this event, hopefully it can be an economic driver for the residents of Mataram City,” said the Regional Secretary.
The same thing was also conveyed by the NTB Regional Secretary, Lalu Gita Ariadi, that the Mataram City Government and the NTB Provincial Government have collaborated a lot in major national and regional events so, he hopes that the 2023 MXGP Sumbawa Lombok event will be held successfully.
