JABAR EKSPRES – FIFA, the world soccer body, has released its latest rankings on Thursday, with Indonesia dropping one notch to 150th after two test matches against Palestine and Argentina.
Previously, Indonesia was ranked 149th when FIFA released the rankings on April 6, 2023. The Indonesian national team, known as Team Garuda, played a goalless draw against Palestine at Gelora Bung Tomo Surabaya on June 14 and lost 0-2 to Argentina at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on June 19.
The results of the two matches caused Indonesia’s ranking to drop by 1.32 points, so they now accumulate a total of 1047.46 points.
Currently, Indonesia is ranked below Liberia (148th) and Hong Kong (149th). The highest ranking among ASEAN countries is occupied by Vietnam (rank 95), followed by Thailand (rank 113), the Philippines (rank 135), and Malaysia (rank 137).
However, Indonesia is still ahead of Singapore (ranked 158th), Myanmar (ranked 160th), Cambodia (ranked 176th), Laos (ranked 188th), and Brunei Darussalam (ranked 191st).
Meanwhile, Argentina remains at the top of the FIFA rankings after two wins in friendly matches in June. As the 2022 World Cup champions, Argentina defeated Australia and Indonesia by 2-0. The two wins earned the Tango team 2.80 points, and they now have a total of 1843.73 points.
In the second rank, there is the French national team with a total of 1843.54 points, followed by Brazil in the third rank with a total of 1828.27 points.
