Burhan revealed the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo aka Hemedti who has been in conflict with the military since April 15, wants to establish his own kingdom “on the bodies and skulls of the Sudanese people.”
He emphasized that the armed forces are willing to hand over power to a civilian government led by the Sudanese people.
Dagalo also announced a “unilateral” ceasefire ahead of and on the first day of Eid al-Adha.
On April 15 fighting between the Sudanese military and the RSF broke out in Khartoum and surrounding areas. More than 600 people were killed and thousands injured in the Sudanese conflict.
Disagreements between the warring parties over the integration of the RSF into the military have intensified in recent months.

Sudan has not had a functional government since 2021 after the military dissolved the transitional government led by Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and declared a state of emergency.
The military’s move was denounced by political forces in the country as a “coup”.
Sudan’s transitional period, which began in August 2019 after the ouster of President Omar Al Bashir, originally ended in the 2024 elections.
