JABAR EKSPRES – US Ambassador Sung Yong Kim highlighted the importance of a stronger partnership with Indonesia while celebrating the 247th Anniversary of US Independence Day on July 4, 2023.
“To me, the most exciting part of our partnership is the enormous potential for us to do more together,” Sung said during his remarks at the event in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The theme of this year’s 247th US Independence Day is “Red, White and Bluegrass, Celebrating the 247th Year of American Independence and Our Culture of Diversity” which shows unity and diversity as the greatest strengths of the US, Sung said.

The independence day commemoration reminded him of the importance of the foundations of democracy built through tolerance, freedom and diversity.
The event also celebrated the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the US to realize prosperity.

“Together we advance inclusive economic growth and environmental conservation,” he said.
The partnership also enhances regional security and jointly protects the shared goal of realizing a free, prosperous, peaceful and resilient Indo-Pacific region.
He looked forward to a stronger partnership between the two countries.
“Let us reach the future together with unlimited potential and opportunities,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the US has been one of Indonesia’s most important partners for decades.

For this reason, ahead of the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-US diplomatic relations, he emphasized the importance of strengthening relations to overcome the dynamic political and economic situation and to lay a strong foundation for current and future developments.
“Both Indonesia and the US must find innovative ways to elevate the partnership to a new level,” Sung concluded.
