Jabar Ekspres – Petra Kvitova enhanced her status as the overwhelming favorite for a third Wimbledon title by defeating Donna Vekic in the final of the WTA Berlin grass court tournament on Sunday local time.
The Czech seventh seed won 6-2, 7-6 (8/6) to claim her second title of the year. The victory gave her a sixth grass-court trophy, and the 31st title of her career.
Kvitova (33) who was Wimbledon champion in 2011 and 2014, broke Vekic twice in the first set. The two traded breaks in the second set before Kvitova won in the tiebreak.

The world number nine did not drop a set on her way to lifting the trophy at the Steffi Graf Stadium in the German capital.
“I’m shocked now,” Kvitova told the crowd moments after the countdown to lift the trophy, quoted by AFP.
“I wasn’t sure I could count in German, but I finally did it so I’m happy.”
Vekic praised her opponent’s career.
“Your career is something we can only hope for,” Vekic said.
“I lost to you a few times and every time I lost to you, I felt like you won the tournament.”
Kvitova has now won 12 of her last 13 matches on grass since her title triumph at Eastbourne last season. She has lost just four sets during that span.
Unseeded Vekic (26) impressed this week, beating defending Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina on her way to her first grass-court final since 2019.
