Luhut Confirms That The Export of Sea Sand has Not Been Carried Out

JABAR EKSPRES – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan ensured that until now the export of sea sand has not been carried out at all because the government prioritizes sea sediments to be used for reclamation in the country.

“Read carefully the PP, there is no export,” he said when met at his office in Jakarta on Friday.

Luhut also dismissed the issue that the export of sea sand was related to Singapore’s potential investment in the Capital City of the Archipelago.

“It has nothing to do with that. Read the PP carefully. To this day, the Permendag still prohibits exports,” he said.

Luhut also said that even if exports were carried out later, the rules would be very strict, including through an audit by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency.

“If exports are carried out, it is the deepening of the channel. So the sediment is used and it is audited by BPKP and now we prioritize reclamation in our own country. And there is no export yet,” he said.

Since it was signed on May 15, 2023, Government Regulation Number 26 of 2023 concerning Management of Sedimentation Results in the Sea has become a public concern. The reason is, the PP does mention the permissibility of exporting sedimentation in the form of sea sand.

Based on a copy of PP 26/2023 Article 9 paragraph 2, it is stated that the utilization of sedimentation in the form of sea sand is used for domestic reclamation, government infrastructure development, infrastructure development by business actors and / or exports as long as domestic needs are met and in accordance with statutory provisions.

Then, it is also mentioned that the designation of domestic sea sand will be subject to non-tax state revenue fees, while exports will be subject to higher PNBP fees.
