Indonesian Youth Create an AI based English Learning Platform

JennieTest’s diagnosis test can be tried for free by the public starting Friday (23/6), while other learning packages will be opened starting June 30, 2023. JennieTest can be accessed via www.joinmasa.ai.

In addition to JennieTest, MASA AI also presents JennieSpeak which allows users to improve their English speaking skills. AI will help to detect pronunciation and intonation, rhythm and tempo, as well as grammar and vocabulary accuracy.

JennieTest can be accessed for a subscription price of only Rp19,000 per two weeks and can be used indefinitely. Meanwhile, JennieSpeak is priced at IDR2,500 per speaking practice.

Davyn emphasized that the presence of this AI-based learning platform does not aim to replace the role of teachers or tutors but to make each learning session more effective for students.

“What we can do by using MASA AI is that students don’t need as many sessions. And each session is more effective because the teacher already knows where the students are strong, where their weaknesses are. Then it can be more targeted, more personalized learning process for students,” Davyn said.

Jason is a student at the University of California, Berkeley while Davyn is a graduate of Stanford University’s Symbolic Systems master program. Besides the two, MASA AI was also co-founded with Wilson Liang from the US who is a graduate of Stanford University’s Computer Science master program.

The newcomer startup aims to further develop the Jennie platform in the third quarter of this year into next year including developing a more interactive chatbot in the form of an avatar.

In addition to providing usable products for individual users, MASA AI also operates through a B2B model that will partner with schools, edtech platforms, and multinational companies.

After about four months of starting the project, the startup has yet to receive official funding from investors. However, former Indonesian Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan will serve as MASA AI’s advisory board alongside PT WIR Asia Tbk (WIRG) President Commissioner Daniel Surya Wirjatmo.
