Jabar Ekspres – Two young Indonesians in the United States, Jason Sudirdjo and Davyn Sudirdjo, created an artificial intelligence (AI)-based English learning platform called Jennie through their startup MASA AI.
Jason said the Jennie platform was created out of concern over the education situation in Indonesia with tutoring institutions (bimbel) that often charge expensive fees. Therefore, Jennie comes as a solution by offering cheaper prices.
“One of the biggest problems we see is that many teachers or tutors in Indonesia are not only expensive, but also not all of them are qualified and not all of them are accredited. So education is still not democratized yet and not affordable for the whole community,” Jason said during a virtual press conference, followed from Jakarta on Thursday.
The Jennie platform consists of a number of products, one of which includes JennieTest which is ready to launch. JennieTest is basically a learning suite for practicing TOEFL, IELTS, UTBK-SBMPTN, and English in general.

Before users access the entire package in JennieTest, the platform will evaluate users’ English strengths and weaknesses through a diagnostic test. After that, the AI system will provide personalized learning materials according to the user’s needs.
“The diagnostic test is very fast. For example, if they answer correctly or incorrectly, the amount of time they need to take the test, and how many times they change their answers, our AI can analyze and predict where the weaknesses are, where the strengths are, and also the estimated score,” Jason explained.
JennieTest’s learning materials focus on aspects of reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills. In it, the platform also provides a chatbot where users can ask anything with audio output in both English and Indonesian.
JennieTest is also able to track or analyze the extent of learning progress and provide learning targets to each user before they finally take the final test.
