Jabar Ekspres – Special Olympics Indonesia gymnast Cyntia Rismauli Nainggolan won bronze in rhythmic gymnastic at the Special Olympics World Summer Games (SOWSG), held in Berlin, Germany.
Cyntia scored 60.450, while gold medalist Aigerian Issabayeva from Kazasthan scored 61.900 and silver medalist Katherine Carrascoso Pujols from the Dominican Republic scored 61.600.
“Cyntia was nervous when she went down on the rope tool, she went blank,” said coach Elly Puji Kusumawati, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora RI), Tuesday.
While in badminton, Naufal Dwi Kurnia and Ananias Ulin Pratiwi recorded victories over their opponents during the division stage.
“I am grateful that Alhamdullilah can win twice, I hope to win twice,” said Naufal.
Coach Mardi Panjaitan hopes that the two wins will make the judges decide that his athlete will enter division 1 and Naufal can win gold.
Equality of ability is upheld in Special Olympics. This means that in order to perform optimally, Special Olympics International imposes a grouping of matches. Athletes with more ability should not compete with those who are weaker.

Differences are measured in predetermined units. During the contingent registration period, each country is required to send data on athlete abilities.
The ability data will be tested again when athletes take part in the division stage. If there is a change, the coaching team can convey it. Conversely, the jury can sanction disqualification if there are data differences at the divisioning stage.
Athletes who are declared disqualified still have the possibility to continue competing in different numbers. For example, swimmers who are registered in several race numbers may be disqualified in one number so that they can participate in another number.
Special Olympics Indonesia swimmer Nadila experienced this when participating in divisioning on Sunday (18/6).
