JABAR EKSPRES – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) closed an illegal crossing in the working area of the Jakarta Operations Region (Daop) 1, precisely at KM 35+4/5 crossing Depok-Citayam following the collision of a public transportation car on Friday.
“The closure of illegal crossings is a form of KAI’s support to realize safety and security,” said Jakarta Daop 1 Acting Public Relations Manager Feni Novida Saragih in a written statement received by Indonesia Window here on Friday.
Earlier, a public transport car was hit by a KRL from Bogor until it was dragged for 50 meters after the car’s chassis was stuck on the tracks. There were no casualties in the incident because the driver had time to save himself shortly before the train passed.
Feni said he deeply regrets and condemns the actions of people who make illegal crossings that often cause accidents.

“Daop 1 Jakarta appeals to all people and motorists not to do activities around the railroad track, not to make illegal crossings to cross and use the official crossing path and obey the rules and traffic signs installed when going through the railway crossing,” she explained.
Feni also continues to remind motorists who will pass through the official level crossing to be careful by paying attention to the right and left sides when crossing to ensure that no trains will pass through the crossing.
“In addition, four-wheeled riders are also advised to open the window glass when going through the level crossing so that the view and hearing are not obstructed and not to use cellular phones while driving and not to cross the crossing when the siren has sounded,” she added.
Feni also added that the lack of awareness of motorists to obey the rules at level crossings is a major factor in accidents.
