JABAR EKSPRES – Tourists and travelers can enjoy the rest of the Eid holidays by visiting strawberry picking tours in Agam Regency, West Sumatra.
“We have started operating since the first day of Eid. Thank God the visitors are busy. Most of the travelers are from overseas with their families,” said Rina (30), manager of a strawberry picking tour in Nagari Balingka, Agam Regency, Sunday (30/4).
He mentioned that the independent tourism object, which is managed directly by the community around the slopes of Mount Singgalang, generates quite significant income during Eid.
“Especially in Balingka, the strawberry picking tour has only been established for a year. Previously it started from the Malalak area and its surroundings. This one is the busiest with visitors,” he said.
A box of strawberries sells for Rp. 25,000. However, if you want to pick it yourself, it is sold according to the weight of the pickings from the visitors.
“One-ounce costs Rp. 8,000 if visitors pick it themselves. We also provide authentic Balinese culinary,” explained Rina.
At first, the strawberry picking tour started from Upang Village, Jorong Phambatan, Nagari Balingka, Agam, which is right on the left side of the Singgalang Mountains.
Parents and their children dominate the tourist spot with tens of gardens and thousands of strawberries that they can pick themselves.
The manager of the tourist spot does not charge entry fees to visitors while in the plantation area. It is enough just to pay for parking for those who come by vehicle.
Local residents have started to develop this strawberry plant since 2013 which is managed independently until they are able to generate additional income from sales that extend to outside the region.
Previously, the strawberries they planted received many orders through requests from social media.
