JABAR EKSPRES – COVID-19 in China peaks again, a month 164 people deadContagious cases of COVID-19 in China peaked again, during the month of May there were 164 people dead and 2,777 others in severe condition.
The China Center for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention (CCDC) said in a statement monitored in Beijing on Tuesday that deaths and severe cases occurred among seniors with congenital diseases with an average age of 79.3 years.

The number of clinic visits, severe cases and deaths from COVID-19 during May 2023 was higher than April 2023, but lower than during the peak of cases in late 2022, the CCDC said.
During the February-April period there have been sporadic cases. The number of positive cases continued to increase from the end of April, but decreased at the end of May and is currently trending downward.
This is in accordance with the opinion of upper respiratory tract disease expert Prof. Zhong Nanshan that at least 65 million citizens across China will be infected with COVID-19 by the end of June.
From a total of 14,732 samples of positive cases of COVID-19, it was identified that the Omicron variant and the XBB subvariant were still dominant in China.
