JABAR EKSPRES – Liverpool FC striker Diogo Jota said the 2023/2024 season was the right season for his team to return to the championship path after stumbling and only finishing in fifth place in the Premier League in the 2022/2023 season with 67 points.
“We are a club that fights for titles and next season we have the perfect opportunity to do that,” said Jota, quoted from the club’s official website, Tuesday.
Jota did not perform optimally last season because he was hit by a hamstring injury at the start of the season and a calf injury from October 2022 until early February.
The injury made the Portuguese national team player only appear as much 28 times with details 22 matches in the Premier League and six matches in the Champions League by scoring seven goals and eight assists.
“Now it’s our turn to make new history starting next season. I am always motivated to do my best and as a Liverpool player it comes with a lot of responsibility,” said Jota.
Despite having struggled last season, since brought in from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the season 2020/2021, player 26 that year was classified as a fertile striker because he had scored 41 goals and 17 assists during three seasons defending the Reds.

His best season defending the club that owns six Champions League trophies was in 2021/2022 when he appeared 55 times with 21 goals and helped the team have a fantastic season because it almost won a quadruple or four trophies in a season.
That season Liverpool won the League Cup and FA Cup. While the other two competitions failed to end with trophies as they finished in second place in the Premier League by one point from Manchester City at the top and lost 0-1 against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
