Alvaro Bautista to Test Ducati’s MotoGP Bike

Jabar Ekspres – Rider Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing) will take advantage of the break in World Superbike (WSBK) to test the Ducati bike for MotoGP, the Desmosedici GP, at the Misano International Circuit on June 20 and 21.

“After I won the WSBK, I asked Ducati to do a test with the MotoGP bike because, from the outside, it looks like a very fun bike (to ride),” Bautista said, quoted from the official WSBK statement on Tuesday.

Furthermore, Bautista denied that his desire to test the Desmosedici GP motorbike was his attempt to win a wildcard in the racing event.

“We will do a trial soon, and I am not doing this with the intention of doing a wildcard. I want to test this bike, and let’s see what happens later,” said the Spanish rider.

On the other hand, Misano is a special place for Bautista because it is where he claimed a hat trick of wins in WSBK. He is now also at the top of the WSBK standings, with 14 wins from the first 15 races this year.

Misano has also been an exciting title chase venue for Bautista in WSBK with Ducati with three wins in 2023 and two more in 2022.

With so much knowledge of the track, both from WSBK and MotoGP, as well as a lot of success there in recent times, Bautista hopes to enjoy the test to the fullest. However, he ensures he remains focused on the WSBK championship and has no intention of returning to MotoGP.

“Right now, in my mind, it’s just World Superbike. I just take tests like a sweet gift and don’t think about (other things),” he said.

Meanwhile, the sixth round for the 2023 WSBK will take place at the Donington Park Circuit in England on June 30 to July 2.
