JABAR EKSPRES – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) recorded 4,061 complaints related to illegal investments and online loans (pinjol) from January 1, 2023 to May 29, 2023 via email [email protected].
The complaints include 158 illegal investments and 3,903 illegal pinjol.
“This number is quite large and troubling,” said OJK Deputy Commissioner for Supervision of Financial Services Business Actor Behavior and Consumer Protection Sarjito in the Series-2 National Webinar entitled “Consumer Protection against Digital Financial Crime” in Jakarta, Monday.
He said all incoming complaints had been responded to by the Investment Alert Task Force (SWI) in the form of advice to report to the police if they received intimidation from debt collectors, providing explanations or education, blocking applications through the Ministry of Communication and Information, and forwarding to the supervisory work unit if there were violations of provisions by OJK-licensed loan sharks.

In detail, there were 1,173 complaints of illegal pinjol and 49 illegal investments in January 2023 for a total of 1,222 complaints, 636 illegal pinjol and 19 illegal investments in February 2023 for a total of 655 complaints, and 980 illegal pinjol and 25 illegal investments in March 2023 for a total of 1,005 complaints.
Then as many as 694 illegal pinjol and 39 illegal investments in April 2023 for a total of 733 complaints, and 420 illegal pinjol and 26 illegal investments on May 1-29, 2023 for a total of 446 complaints.
In the period 1-29 May 2023, the most complaints came from West Java with 110 complaints, followed by DKI Jakarta 70 complaints, East Java 64 complaints, Central Java 51 complaints, Banten 27 complaints, and 124 other provinces.
Sarjito said that in that period, the entities complained about in illegal pinjol were Abadi Dana with 25 complaints, Kami Kas with 23 complaints, Tunai Kilat with 21 complaints, and Pinjam Duit and Super Cash with 14 complaints each.
The content of the complaints of all illegal pinjol entities is the threat of spreading personal data, billing to all contacts on the borrower’s cellphone, billing with terror or intimidation, and billing without borrowing.
