JABAR EKSPRES – Researcher from Surabaya Research Syndicate (SRS) Fishya Amina Elvin said that BUMN Minister Erick Thohir won the attention of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) or Nahdliyin residents in looking for a vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election because he was culturally and structurally close.
“For cultural and structural approaches, based on our survey, Mr. Erick Thohir’s cultural approach is closer to Nahdliyin circles,” Fishya said through a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday.
This, he said, was because it was driven by Erick Thohir’s well-known leadership and was considered by the public to be close to and represent the voice of young people.

She also said that Erick Thohir’s figure was widely known among the public as an honorary member of Barisan Ansor Serbaguna (Banser) who had a good performance record in the institutions he led, both as Minister of BUMN and Chairman of PSSI.
“Erick Thohir’s strengths are as an honorary member of Banser, the base of NU, who is popular, coupled with the interest of the younger generation which is quite high,” she said.
Fishya added that based on the latest SRS survey results, Erick Thohir name ranks first as a suitable vice president and NU cadre to accompany Prabowo Subianto with an electability of 18.2 percent.
The electability figure, he continued, was the highest when compared to other figures affiliated with NU, namely Menkopolhukam Mahfud MD, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar.
Finally, he assessed that Erick Thohir is an NU cadre who can complement Prabowo Subianto to win the presidential election battle in East Java, considering that Prabowo lost the province in the previous presidential election.
