Indonesia Encourages Non-Aligned Countries to Accelerate Labor Recovery

JABAR EKSPRES – The Indonesian government is encouraging countries that are members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to accelerate global labor recovery.

“Indonesia proposes and encourages three important steps to accelerate the recovery of global labor conditions,” Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor said in a statement received by Indonesia Window here on Wednesday (6/7).

During the Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Meeting on the sidelines of the 111th session of the International Labor Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland, Afriansyah made the three proposals.

The first proposal is to restore and strengthen multilateral cooperation that upholds the principles of unity, dialogue and respect for international law.

“Only through these principles can we unite the international community,” he said.

Second, enhancing tripartite cooperation in efforts to restore labor conditions and build a more sustainable economy.

“This is done, among others, by accelerating reskilling and upskilling, as well as creating space for lifelong learning and encouraging quality apprenticeships,” he said.

Third, ensuring comprehensive and more protective social protection for vulnerable workers such as women workers, young workers, migrant workers, and workers with disabilities.

During the meeting, he also emphasized the importance of strengthening South-South Cooperation (SSC), so that the multilateral cooperation built so far can show its success.

He also stated that the Center for KSS Cooperation of the Non-Aligned Movement in Jakarta is ready to help strengthen this cooperation through several programs such as poverty alleviation, capacity building, and strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“We want to reaffirm Indonesia’s commitment to our movement. We are ready to collaborate with other members in improving the welfare of our workers,” Afriansyah said.
