2023 ASEAN Para Games: Men’s Sitting Volleyball Qualifies for Final After Beating Cambodia

JABAR EKSPRES – The Indonesian men’s sitting volleyball team made it through to the final round after defeating the host team in the 2023 ASEAN Para Games Cambodia at Elephant Hall Morodok Techo Phnom Penh, Wednesday (6/7).

In the semifinal round, Indonesia won 3-2. Furthermore, Indonesia will meet Thailand tomorrow in the final round.

Indonesia’s victory over Cambodia also avenged the defeat at the first meeting in the group stage.

In the preliminary round, Indonesia lost 0-3 to Cambodia. But other matches in the preliminary round the Red and White squad managed to beat the Philippines 3-0.

Indonesian sitting volleyball head coach, Dedy Winata, admitted that he was very impressed with his players’ unyielding performance against Cambodia.

“In Solo, Cambodia won the gold medal. They are the defending champions. The preliminary round of Cambodia also won over us. From the defeat of the first meeting, we evaluated and succeeded in the second match,” said Dedy.

Dedy said the players had lost concentration after winning 2-0 first, then equalized to 2-2.

“In the deciding game, we instructed them to play more calmly because the final was in sight. Our unyielding spirit and strong mentality earned us a ticket to the final,” said Dedy.
