JABAR EKSPRES – Organizers of the 2024 Paris Olympics confirmed as many as 6,8 million tickets have been sold for the world’s biggest sporting event.
Quoted from the official website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thursday (5/25), this number is 70 percent of the 10 million Olympic tickets that have been prepared.
The second phase of ticket sales for the 2024 Paris Olympics ended on Friday (5/19), and is considered a new sales record achievement, including more than one million tickets sold in 36 hours.
“The success of ticket sales is better than we ever imagined,” said Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee President Tony Estanguet.
The second phase will only be accessible worldwide through a lottery system. All events in the Olympic program, including all finals as well as the opening and closing ceremonies are available in that phase of the draw and sale.

The French public represented two-thirds of buyers, with 63.5 percent of buyers living in France and 36.5 percent abroad. Meanwhile, the public from 178 countries purchased Olympic tickets during this second phase.
The average age of buyers is 40 years old, and 45 percent are women. In addition, team sports are still a favorite of potential spectators later at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
The most popular sports are soccer, basketball, handball, athletics, and volleyball. In addition, tickets for thriathlon, sport climbing, BMX Racing, BMX Freestyle or breaking were all sold on the first day of sales (11/5), in less than two hours.
“The next phase of Olympic ticket (sales) will be held this summer. The procedures for this new phase – without a lottery – will be defined in the coming weeks,” Estanguet added.
On the other hand, the 2024 Paralympics will also be held in France for the first time. Carrying the theme of joy and hope, the 2024 Paralympics will be held from August 28 to September 8.
