JABAR EKSPRES –Mayor of Medan, North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, will offer the northern part of Medan City area to investors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

“We hope that through the ASEAN Summit, we can directly cooperate with investors from ASEAN member countries,” Bobby said in Medan, North Sumatra, Monday (5/8).

Currently, he explained, many sectors can be used as business opportunities, especially in northern Medan which consists of four sub-districts, namely Medan Deli, Medan Labuhan, Medan Marelan and Medan Belawan.

These include the development of a seaside city utilizing Lake Siombak in Medan Marelan into an integrated area integrating parks, recreational rides, water sports, and shopping centers.

Then mangrove land in Belawan Sicanang, the development of Belawan 1, Belawan 2 and Belawan Bahagia in Medan Belawan into residential and commercial areas.

Then the southern part at Belawan Port which has not been utilized, the development of a creative economy economic center in the Belawan collaboration village, and the Belawan industrial area.

“The more people invest, of course, the more jobs will be created and the decrease in open unemployment in Medan City,” said Bobby.

The mayor appreciates all micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and investors who have invested, thus driving the economy in Medan City.

Data from the Medan City One-Stop Integrated Service Investment Office in 2022 states that the investment that entered Medan City was 229 foreign investment projects, and 1,908 domestic investment projects.

On a national scale, 64.19 million MSMEs have contributed to the gross domestic product (GDP) of around 61.97 percent, and on a Medan City scale, more than 38 thousand MSMEs have contributed to the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of around 28.59 percent.

“We, the Medan City Government, still open opportunities for investors to invest in Medan City,” explained Bobby.
