Police Burn Illegal Gold Miner’s Raft in Riau

Jabar Ekspres – The Singingi Hilir Sector Police, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province, conducted an operation to curb unlicensed gold miners (PETI) in the company’s area and found one illegal raft which was immediately burned by the team, Tuesday.

Head of Singingi Hilir Police, AKP Agus Susanto, said that a number of his personnel launched an operation in the PT Wanasari Nusantara oil palm plantation area in Sungai Buluh Village. The reason is that there are suspected illegal gold mining activities.

“The raft was allegedly used by individuals for illegal business, extracting gold by violating the rules and not licensed. Finally, the raft was burned by the team so that it would no longer operate,” he said.

The raid was led directly by him, accompanied by two personnel and seven people from PT Wanasari BDP Security. During the joint raid, the joint team found the dompeng raft was not operating.

On that occasion, the Singingi Hilir Police Chief requested that all parties monitor, report if there are indications of illegal businesses anywhere in the Polsek jurisdiction.

The goal is to optimally minimize illegal activities, because they have a very broad impact. In addition, the Singingi Hilir Police Chief firmly stated that any perpetrators, collectors, and capital owners in PETI activities will also be dealt with strictly according to the law.

Previously, on Thursday (3/8) last week in Indragiri Hulu, there was also a PETI raid in the local area. The raid team found four PETI locations from Lubuk Sitarak Village, Rakit Kulim District and Pasir Berangin, Kelayang District.

The operation team together with village officials witnessed by local residents then also destroyed four rafts and illegal gold mining equipment by burning the equipment belonging to miners.
