NPC Indonesia Cooperates with South Korea to Improve Sports Performance

Jabar Ekspres – The Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) is working with South Korea‘s Seoul Sports Association for the Differently-abled (SSAD) in order to improve the achievements of disabled athletes and build international standard training facilities.

SSAD is an association whose mission is to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities through sports activities. SSAD fosters talented athletes to advance disability sports in South Korea and has advanced training facilities.

In a written statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, NPC Indonesia Chair Senny Marbun signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SSAD Senior Vice President Hwang Jae Yun in Seoul, South Korea on July 10, 2023.

A number of important programs were agreed upon in this MoU, among others, both Indonesia and South Korea could exchange athletes to undergo training.

“Indonesia can send athletes to train in South Korea by using the facilities there. Conversely, South Korea can also send athletes to Indonesia to train here,” said Senny Marbun.

“As Asian countries, Indonesia and South Korea agreed to support each other to produce quality athletes so that they can excel and compete with European countries in international events. We don’t want Asian countries to be considered left behind by European countries,” said Senny.

Senny visited a training ground for disabled athletes in Korea and asked for a blueprint of their training facilities. This is because NPC Indonesia wants to build an international standard training facility in Karanganyar, Central Java.

Meanwhile, Deputy General Manager of Public Relations and Cooperation Department of SSAD Jun Hee Sun welcomed the cooperation between the two countries.
