Ace Hasan Asks PPIH to Pay Attention to The Needs of Elderly Pilgrims

JABAR EKSPRES – Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives Ace Hasan Syadzily asked the Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) to pay attention to the needs of Indonesian pilgrims, especially the elderly, considering that some of them have difficulty walking long distances and long periods of time.

He proposed that the Indonesian Hajj organizing committee in Saudi Arabia also alert wheelchairs or golf carts to help mobilize elderly pilgrims when they want to go to the place of throwing jumrah to Jamarat.

“Immediately re-identify the elderly who need help with golf carts or wheelchairs that we have requested, so that they are provided to help pilgrims to Jamarat,” said Ace Hasan, who is also a member of the Hajj Supervisory Team of the Indonesian House of Representatives, quoted by JabarEkspres.com from Antara News, in a written release received in Jakarta, Wednesday (28/6).

He explained that the moment of throwing jumrah is one of the crucial stages in the series of hajj pilgrimages, because there is a large enough human movement so that there are several risks that need to be anticipated by Indonesian hajj organizers.

The condition this year, he added, is that the location of the Indonesian pilgrims’ tents to Jamarat – the poles that are the target of throwing the jumrah – is about 2 kilometers away.

“The Ministry of Religious Affairs should make sure to organize the stoning schedule of each group, so that there will be no accumulation when stoning the Jamarat in the next three days. It is very important to place officers to monitor the situation in Jamarat,” said Ace Hasan.

He also reminded PPIH to alert officers at every strategic point, who are also equipped with logistics such as drinking water.

“Place officers at every strategic point accompanied by logistics, especially drinking water and health workers on the route traveled by pilgrims, especially the route from the Al-Moashim Pilgrims Tent to Jamarat, including standby (alert) health workers,” he said again.
