JABAR EKSPRES – The United States, France, the United Kingdom, Albania and Ukraine are demanding that the United Nations (UN) investigate the growing military cooperation between Russia and Iran.
In a media briefing on Friday (23/6), US Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that such cooperation has helped Russia to continue its brutal war in Ukraine.
She said that Russia had purchased hundreds of Mohajers and Shahed series drones from Iran – a clear violation of Resolution 2231.
He also said that Moscow is now working with Tehran to produce these weapons domestically.
“Ukraine, the US, France, the UK and other countries have duly reported these violations to the UN, and provided the UN with additional information and analysis,” Greenfield said.
He emphasized that the UN should respond to the growing calls from the international community to investigate the violations.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzia refuted Greenfield’s statement, calling it baseless and aimed at misleading the international community.
Nebenzia argued that the documents presented were not based on facts, but rather misleading political discourse.
